Wandsworth Common
Playground
A proposal for a natural playscape for Wandsworth Council. Lady Allen Adventure Playground sits alongside the site. We wanted to take inspiration form some of her theories in play design - in particular her attitude to risk.
We wanted at the centre of the deign to be the highest possible (4m) free climb without barriers. This could be achieved with a web system of ropes that create a highly challenging risky climb but with an obstructed safe fall.
A live build pavilion project with Chelsea College of Arts Spatial Design students, installed at the Tate Britain.
Euston Play
2024
A project led while working with youth architectural educators MATT+FIONA.
This structure was designed and built by a team of 17 young people from Euston. Over the course of five months, the group iteratively developed the exploring expanded ideas of play in collaboration with Youth Fitzrovia Youth in Action. The structure serves as a stage for performances, play, gatherings and shelter. Overhead mirrors create unconventional visual interactions between performers and the audience throughout the garden, while also acting as a landmark. The shaped panels above form a dramatic setting, capturing the south-facing sun. These panels were constructed by the group at the Euston Skills Centre.
